Writing wedding thank you notes

A great aspect of weddings, among the many numerous ones, is that of receiving gifts. Newly wed couples receive gifts that can range from inexpensive but thoughtful gifts, to really elaborate and expensive stuff. Irrespective of what type of gift you receive from whom, writing thank you notes to everybody who gave you a wedding gift is an absolute must.

It is very important to show your guests and loved ones that you are appreciative of their thoughtfulness and receive their gifts with much gratitude. Most people just love receiving mail, especially if it is not a bill! So, go ahead and start writing your thank you notes. We'll even help you get started!

Write your thank you notes soon after the wedding or as you receive each gift, which could even be before the wedding. If you put off writing the thank you notes and it becomes a couple of weeks since the wedding, you often tend to think that it has become too late to send the notes, and you end up not sending them at all. So make sure that you send your thank you notes on time. Two weeks is an acceptable time limit to send notes for gifts received before the wedding. And for gifts received at the wedding, 1 month is an acceptable timeline, especially if you took some time off for a honeymoon.

Your thank you notes should be written by hand, either by you or your spouse. Messy and crossed out notes are a complete no-no. Take some time and effort and write out personal and sincere than you notes.

Wedding thank you notes should always make a mention of the gift received. You can also mention how you would use the wonderful gift and how much pleasure it will bring you and your spouse.

While thanking your guests for giving you a gift, also thank them for taking time to come for the wedding and being a part of your wonderful day. If you are writing a thank you note to someone who could not attend the wedding, but sent you a gift nevertheless; thank them for the gift and say that you are sorry they couldn't attend and would have loved it if they could have made it.

Always use a nice paper to write the thank you note on. You can even get thank you cards printed along with your wedding invitations, but remember to write them by hand.
